SAWATEC AG was formed in 1996. It was created by merging the two companies Sawatzki Engineering by Harry Sawatzki and Bruno Sawatzki Konstruktion.

The two founders of the company (father Harry Sawatzki and son Bruno Sawatzki) merged their long-standing know-how in order to realise their semiconductor products through SAWATEC AG and put them on the market.

The focus of the company founders' efforts has always been the strong conviction of being able to offer high-quality equipment to customers at attractive prices. This and a high level of competence in solving problems combined with high innovative ability have always been outstanding quality features of SAWATEC products; for example, SAWATEC AG were a forerunner at the time with their dye coater for CDR manufacturing.

At the beginning, spin coaters combined with a hot plate were a successful cornerstone product of SAWATEC AG. Over the next three years, the range of useful products was extended by hot plates (HP-150 to HP-401-Z), drying spinners, wafer bonders, vacuum soldering ovens for wafers, and spin coaters up to 300 mm (LSM line), as well as developer facilities (LRD line).

In the course of extending their range of products, SAWATEC AG developed various metering pumps and metering valves (high-precision electrically-controlled metering pumps and also pneumatic diaphragm pumps), which met with a good response in the field of data storage. Complete metering systems with Profibus connection, filtering, and buffering systems rounded off the proven range of SAWATEC products.

From 2000, SAWATEC AG has been placing increased emphasis on the CD industry. Successful products for CD coating plants were developed and introduced on the market. A special spinner module (PC 122B) was developed for the DVD production plants of UNAXIS and successfully sold on the market in high numbers.

The CDR coater developed by SAWATEC AG was immediately used by leading users such as First Light Technology and STEAG.

Another milestone in this field was the successful development and market introduction of a flow coater for CD ring coating in 2002.

At the same time, spray coaters were developed for the semiconductor industry and special metering systems for the manufacturing of spectacle glass.

Over the last three years, SAWATEC AG have been emphasising their focus on the semiconductor industry. Spray developers were developed for this field and made ready for marketing in the shortest period of time. Recently, SAWATEC AG has also been developing cluster facilities.
